Pineridge Hollow’s Year in Review

Well, another great year has come to a close. It was a very special one for us here at Pineridge Hollow as we celebrated our 25th anniversary! We’ve put together our favourite moments from this past year, as chosen by you, our guests! These were our most liked Instagram posts by month in 2017.

January- Goat Attitude


Jan 14 – 774 likes

In the middle of winter, our petting zoo animals are still having fun outside in the snow. Our two Pygmy goats, Felix & Farley have been with us for 3 summers now and have become familiar friendly faces at the Pineridge Hollow petting zoo.


February – Veranda at Sunset

We can understand this being our top liked post in February 2017. Guests were able to enjoy our veranda in the middle of winter which means it must have been nice weather!


March – Chocolate Mousse Cake

Mmmmm chocolate. This dessert was one of our favourites too. Our pastry chef, Jeanette is always coming up with the most delectable treats for our seasonal dessert menus. We’re all wondering what will be next for our Spring 2018 menu!


April – Beet Chips

If you have ever visited our restaurant, you have most likely seen (if not tried!) our signature beet chips with rosemary, sea salt and house made goat cheese ranch dip. These are definitely a crowd favourite! We even had a wedding order them as an appetizer for all their guests this year! This year we served over 8200 orders of beet chips!


May – Charcuterie Board

While charcuterie may not be the easiest word to say, it sure is easy to like! Truffle salami, prosciutto, brie, Manitoba Trappist cheese. Seriously, what’s not to like about this picture! June – Donut Wall

Donut walls were a fun trend that we saw all over Pinterest & Instagram this past year. We were so excited when one of our wedding couples this summer told us that they wanted one! Our pastry chef, Jeanette hand made these “Simpsons” style donuts for this super fun brunch wedding held here in June.


July – Faith’s Nose

Our precious miniature potbelly pig, Faith, joined the Pineridge Hollow family in July. You have probably seen her munching on pumpkins on our Instagram, wandering around the grounds or with her friends in the petting zoo. How sweet is that little face? Spoiler alert…there may be more of these little faces running around this spring.

August – Wild Berry Salad

Our guests were loving this fresh wild berry salad this summer, with goat cheese, candied pecans and quinoa. Did you know that we grew a lot of our own vegetables to serve in our restaurant this summer? Oak Knoll Farms provided us with fresh lettuce for our salads, beets for our beet chips and so, so much more. You’ll get to hear much more about Oak Knoll Farm in 2018!

September – A Little Girl & Her Cinnamon Bun

It’s not just little kids who make this face when our servers deliver our signature cinnamon buns! We serve our cinnamon buns warm with lots of homemade caramel sauce and whipped cream.  They’re the perfect dessert at Sunday brunch or an afternoon snack after a stroll in Bird’s Hill Park.

October – PRH through snowy trees

The snow did show up a lot earlier than last year. But apparently you all love it, seeing as this was within our top 10 most liked posts in 2017.

November – Hats & Mittens Wall Display

You really aren’t fooling anyone when you complain about our cold Manitoba winters. Looks like this picture of our Lemon Loungewear display gave you all the comfy, cozy feels of winter accessories. This was our most liked post of 2017!

December – Prairie Berry Sangria

Yea, we love sangria too. The Prairie Berry Sangria has been on our menu for a number of years! Sangria is one of those amazing chameleon drinks that is perfect for sipping on the patio on a sweltering hot summer day and yet is somehow also perfect for curling up next to the fire in the middle of December. Seems fitting that at the end of the year, everyone just feels like having a nice relaxing beverage and winding down to see what next year holds.

While these posts didn’t win “top post” by month, we felt they were definitely worth mentioning because they were within our most liked posts over all for the year.

Peppermint Hot Chocolate

We sold this scrumptious peppermint hot chocolate as a feature during our first Holiday Open House in November.  We topped ours with whipped cream, crushed candy canes and a house made peppermint marshmallow. The signature red mug was yours to keep! We hope everyone who bought one of these holiday treats thinks of us every time they use their red mug at home!

This hat may be funny, but it’s not lying! This little piggy may be small but she would definitely eat a whole plate of cookies if you let her. Faith loves doing tricks for a treat! Who knew you could train a pig!

Pineridge Hollow’s 25th Anniversary – July 3

While these didn’t win for most liked posts this year, our 25th anniversary was a huge milestone and a day of celebration with our Pineridge Hollow Family which includes everyone who walks through these doors on a daily basis: guests, staff, vendors! This year also brought the launch of our PH Better Together motto and hashtag. We truly believe that everyone involved in our family is what makes us so special (who we are) and that we are truly better together! These pictures show some of the fun we had celebrating the big day.

Firsts for Pineridge Hollow in 2017:
  •  Launch of #phbettertogether which included contests, custom Hilary Druxman jewelry and a 25th anniversary banquet in support of Winnipeg Harvest
  • Oak Knoll Farms started growing and supplying produce for our restaurant & banquets
  • Our store started carrying Joanna Gaines gorgeous home line – Magnolia Home
  • Tuesdays at the Hollow summer workshop & event series
